At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the United States Men’s National Basketball Team won the gold medal. To qualify for the Summer Olympics, the Americans had to finish amongst the top three teams during the 2010 FIBA world championship games. In fact, the team finished in first place as they won the championship in the qualifying rounds of the Olympic games. The team was made up of five returning players from the 2008 Olympic team which won the gold medal in the Beijing Summer Olympics and five players who were a part of the 2010 FIBA world championship team.
When the tournament began, the United States lost shooting guard Dwayne Wade and power forward Blake Griffin due to injuries and appeared to be short on big men.
The team went undefeated in their opening five exhibition games but at times appeared to be weak as they lacked an interior presence. The team finished the tournament with an impeccable 8-0 record and a incredible win margin average of 32 points.
In a rematch of the 2008 Beijing Olympic finals, Team USA slightly edged Team Spain to capture the gold. Coming off his incredible championship season in the NBA, Lebron James became the leader of the Olympic team proving to the world that he was the biggest st*r amongst all the st*rs.

I remember watching the USA Men's Basketball Team play during this summer's Olympics. I thought they dominated in most, if not all, of the games. It was apparent that Lebron James stepped up to become the leader of the team, and I think he did a good job at it. I was also very impressed with Kobe Bryant. I read his blogs on Facebook that he would post throughout the Olympics.
